Hello again!
So this post is a little different compared to my others, I thought I'd write something that's a little bit more personal to me and I think if someone who is in the same situation that I was in last year reads this then it might help a little!
Basically, University wasn't the option for me after sixth form, I'm not saying that I'll never go to Uni but it just wasn't what I wanted to do after I finished school for good. Don't get me wrong Uni would've definitely benefit me more in the future, for those of you who don't know, I currently work for Wetherspoons which is a huge bar and restaurant chain within the UK. I know some of you may read that and think 'oh what a waste of time' but it gets me from A to B. It is a really good company to work for and I enjoy working there but it's not something that I want to do for the rest of my life. I have loads of different hobbies which include music; I learnt to play the guitar around 2 years ago and I haven't stopped since, I love singing and also writing this blog. I think that whether or not you know what you want to do in life nothing is completely certain and things can change within a few seconds. I would much rather live my life now and do things that I've always wanted to do such as travelling and giving other things a go such as writing things like this.
Many of my friends are in University, to be honest I'd say about 95% of people I know around my age (19) to about 22 are studying somewhere in the country. I have friends that live in Aberyswyth and London and I know that they're enjoying every minute of it, and i'm so happy for them but it just wasn't for me. For most people after you leave school it's all about deciding what you want to do for the rest of your life and I didn't enjoy that pressure because you can't be 100% positive! Some people have their minds set on becoming teachers, or nurses or scientists but I enjoy doing a variety or different things so I couldn't bring myself to just stick to one.
For those of you that are confused about which course to choose I would just say think carefully about your future and just remember things can change and you're not always going to have an easy ride to get what you want. Remember, life is not a free ride.
For me right now, I'm quite happy with my life, even though I feel as if I was too young to make this life changing decision by choosing what I want to be for the rest of my life I'm happy with the decisions I've made and I will always have the option to go to University if I want but later on in the future I don't think I will feel as pressured to do so.
I don't want anyone after reading this post to think I've wrote this to persuade you not to go to University but I'm just think that there's a lot of other options than further education.
Thanks for reading and I hope some of you have benefit from this post. Even if it's just one person, I'll be a happy girl!
